MEDIEVAL FAIR

隨到隨報到。每個家庭做一面木盾，畫上自己家的家徽，掛到市集中央的家徽架上。

這面盾牌整個週末都掛在那裡 —— 沒有人會把它拿走 —— 最後一天自己取下來帶回家。

Rolling arrival. Every family paints a house emblem on a wooden shield and hangs it on the Town Rail. Nobody takes it down: it stays there all weekend and goes home on Monday.

皇后問魔鏡：「Mirror, mirror, who is the fairest?」魔鏡回答她。

她下令：這個鎮上所有的金幣都是她的。她的手下開始一枚一枚把孩子賺到的錢收走，鎖進高塔的錢櫃裡 —— 那個櫃子是看得見的，孩子整個下午都看得到自己的金幣關在窗格後面。

🛡 她不碰盾牌。每一面家徽都留在市集中央的架子上，整個週末都在。

The Queen asks her mirror the line every child already knows. She decrees that every coin in the town is hers, and her officers begin taking the children's earnings into a strongbox in the tower — visible through the bars all afternoon. She never touches the shields.

制箭（獵人在牧場另一頭教射箭，穿過城堡與充氣迷宮的闖關路線）、工程（造投石機）、騎士（馬廄的各項挑戰）、傳令（金幣與吆喝）、愚人（枷刑架）。

孩子選一個行會，從學徒開始考。每考過一關就賺到金幣 —— 而皇后的手下同時在場子裡收稅，賺到的隨時可能被收走一枚。

Fletchers with the Huntsman out at the far fence, Engineers building trebuchets, Marshals at the Stables, Heralds, Fools. Children pick a guild and start at Apprentice, earning coins as they pass — while the Queen officers move through the fair taking those coins as tax.

每個家庭拿到一張紙條，上面是皇后這個下午從他們家收走了多少錢。

孩子用英語寫一句話在上面 — She took our coins. — 親手釘到高塔上屬於自己家的那一片牆板。

Each family collects the record of what she took from them this afternoon, writes one line of English on it — She took our coins. — and nails it to their own wall panel on the tower.

孩子用英語念出她的罪狀。高塔的錢櫃打開，她收走的金幣全部倒回桌上一起數 — 一枚金幣換一顆海綿。

皇后進枷刑架，全鎮一起丟。刻意排在下午最暖的時段，旁邊就是營火跟毛巾。

The children read the charges in English. The tower strongbox is opened and every coin she took is counted back onto the table — one coin buys one sponge — and the whole fair throws. The warmest hour of the day, with a fire and towels beside it.

魔鏡第一次對皇后說實話。這是故事的結尾，不是懲罰的結尾 — 她不是被消滅，是終於聽見了。

The mirror tells her the truth for the first time. The story ends here, not with a punishment. She is not destroyed, she is finally told.

傳令官一家一家點名，每個家庭把自己那一片塔牆搬下來 — 孩子是搬，不是拆。列隊走向火盆，一片一片放進去，每一片放進去之前先大聲念出那家人的告示。燒的是欠條，不是人。

Each family lifts its OWN wall panel off the pegs. Children lift, nothing is smashed. A procession to a contained fire bowl, panels fed in one at a time, each family record read aloud first. What burns is the debt.

隨時起床，隨時吃。今天沒有集合號。

Wake when you wake. No muster horn today.

皇后不在了，鎮是你們的。每個孩子在家徽架前領一條家族腰帶，不管有沒有加購。

The Queen is gone and the town is theirs. Every child collects a house sash at the Town Rail, regardless of what was paid.

兩座充氣城堡整天開著，想跳就去跳 —— 不排隊、不計分、不用報名。

Both castles stay up all day. No queue, no scoring, no sign-up — just go.

每個家庭在自己的營位前開一個攤子，孩子用第一天賺到的金幣互相交易。

賣什麼、賣多少，孩子自己決定。工作人員只在街上走，不管價錢。

Each family opens a stall at its own pitch and the children trade with the coins they won yesterday. What to sell and for how much is theirs to decide — staff walk the street, they do not run it.

三小時，孩子跟著老師做出幾道中世紀的菜，晚餐就吃自己做的。

加購項目，過夜家庭限定 —— 單日參加的家庭星期六就回家了。

沒有加購的孩子這段時間在自己的營位繼續行會的功課：把投石機做完、削箭、練傳令的吆喝。

Three hours cooking medieval dishes they eat at supper. An add-on, campers only. Everyone else carries on with guild work at their own pitch — finishing the trebuchet, fletching arrows, practising the herald cry.

營區中間拉出一條道，一家一家輪流走。爸媽戴上馬頭飾當坐騎，和孩子共持一支泡棉長槍，把環一個一個挑下來。

全程用走的，不准跑，每一趟都有工作人員陪走。不想騎的孩子當步行侍從，一樣拿槍、一樣挑環。

One lane down the middle of the campsite, family by family. Parent and child share ONE foam lance and walk it together, lifting rings off a frame. Walking pace only, a marshal beside every pass, and a Squire-on-Foot version for anyone who prefers it.

上廚房課的孩子今天吃自己做的。

The kitchen families eat what they made.

每個家庭用英語加一句話，外師寫在一張長卷軸上，燈串照著。

Each family adds one line in English to a story written onto a scroll.

每個行會的學徒考師傅：制箭、騎士、傳令、愚人各有各的考題。

工程行會的考題就是把自己做的投石機推到線上發射 —— 濕海綿跟網球，絕對不用石頭。距離當場量、當場寫上排行榜。

Apprentices test for Master in their own guild. The Engineers test is firing the trebuchet you built — wet sponges and tennis balls, never stone, distances measured and chalked up.

五個行會全部交給考到師傅的孩子經營 — 一個孩子在射箭線上吹哨、一個孩子拉投石機的發射繩、一個孩子在馬廄發令。外師只在旁邊看著。

The guilds are run by the children who made Master. A child calls the archery line, a child pulls the trebuchet release, a child starts the passes at the Stables.

皇后走了，這座鎮要自己訂規矩。每個家族用英語寫一條法律，釘上一個木框架，全鎮一起把它立起來。這是整個週末唯一一座立起來、而不是倒下去的建築。

The Queen is gone and the town writes its own rules. Each house nails one law in English to a frame, and the whole camp raises it together. The only structure of the weekend that goes UP.

考過師傅的孩子受冊封。

然後每個孩子走到家徽架前，把自己家那一面盾牌取下來帶回家 —— 它整個週末都掛在那裡，從來沒有被拿走過。

The new Masters are crowned. Then every child walks to the Town Rail and lifts down their own family shield to take home — it hung there all weekend and was never taken.
